He Is My Deliverer

Psalm 40:1-3 - New International Version

"I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud, and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.  Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him"

God loves us with a sacrificial love that escapes  our human understanding, overwhelms our human selfishness, and humbles our human pride.  Through the sacrifice of his only Son, Jesus Christ, mankind is delivered from the fate of eternal separation from God.

When we are separated, bowed low and desperate, he hears our cry.  When we are forgotten and despairing, he comforts our loneliness.  And when, because of our own sin, we are wicked and depraved, he cleanses us of our offensiveness and makes us suitable for glory.

God has done the impossible task of making us into something worthy of his name; he takes us from instability to security, gives us a song of praise, and makes our conversion a testimony for all creation to see.  Our deliverance is an opportunity for many more to hear of his love and trust him to deliver them as well.

  1. He has delivered you, perhaps from a pit whose depth is beyond your understanding. Be assured today, that your deliverance is a miracle; it is steady and safe, and the song in your heart will be a message for many. How can you sing God's promises loud and clear today?
